Where to Stay

Stay

For ease of attending the wedding events, we recommend staying in Portofino or Santa Margherita Ligure — two neighbouring seaside towns, minutes apart and easy to travel between.

Recommended Stay

Santa Margherita Ligure

Our recommended home base for the weekend. Most of our events — including the ceremony and reception at Villa Durazzo — take place here and are walkable from town. Staying in Santa Margherita Ligure offers the easiest access to the wedding weekend, along with the widest selection of hotels, restaurants, and transportation.

Also Consider: Portofino

Portofino

A wonderful option for guests seeking a more intimate stay, and home to our rehearsal dinner at the Belmond Splendido Mare. Portofino is a small, iconic harbour town, so accommodations are limited and tend to book quickly — and often at a higher price point.

Belmond Splendido Mare

Right on the famous Portofino piazzetta and the setting for our rehearsal dinner.

Hotel Nazionale

Located next door to the Splendido Mare, for guests who would like to stay close by.

Helpful Reminders
  • These lists are a starting point only — you are welcome to stay wherever feels most comfortable.
  • If a hotel appears sold out on Booking.com, we recommend visiting the hotel's website directly, as availability there is often more accurate.
  • Once on the coast, a ferry, bus, and taxis make travel between the towns and to the events fairly easy.

Travel

Getting to the Italian Riviera. A few ways to find your way to our corner of the Ligurian coast.

01By Air

Airports

The most convenient international airports are Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Rome Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" (FCO), which offer the greatest number of direct flights from the U.S. and abroad. Genoa (GOA) is the closest airport to Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure.

  • Genoa (GOA) — roughly a 40–45 minute drive to the wedding area
  • Milan Malpensa (MXP) — approximately 2.5–3 hours by car
  • Rome Fiumicino (FCO) — best paired with a short connecting flight
02The Fastest Route

Fly Rome to Genoa

Guests arriving through Rome may book a short connecting flight from Rome (FCO) to Genoa (GOA). Flight time is about one hour, and from Genoa it is roughly a 40–45 minute drive to the wedding area. This is the fastest option if you prefer to minimize ground travel.

03By Rail

Train Travel

Italy's train system is efficient, comfortable, and relatively easy to navigate. Trains run frequently from Milano Centrale to Santa Margherita Ligure, with travel times of approximately 2.5–3 hours on routes that are direct or require only one transfer. The Santa Margherita Ligure station is centrally located and walkable to many hotels — a wonderful option if you prefer not to rent a car.

04By Car

Driving from Milan

Guests may also rent a car and drive from Milan Malpensa to the Portofino area, roughly 2.5–3 hours along a scenic and flexible route. This is ideal if you plan to explore the Riviera before or after the wedding weekend.

05On the Coast

Getting Around

Once you have arrived, travelling between the towns is fairly easy. There is a ferry, a bus, and taxis to choose from for transport to and from the wedding events, and the two seaside towns are closely connected and simple to move between.

06A Note

Parking

Parking in Portofino is extremely limited. If you plan to drive, we recommend looking for hotels with parking in Santa Margherita Ligure.

Good to Know

Questions

Most of our wedding weekend takes place outdoors, allowing us to enjoy the beauty of the Italian Riviera. The Welcome Party, Beach Day, and Rehearsal Dinner are all open-air celebrations. Our catholic ceremony will take place inside Chiesa di San Giacomo di Corte, followed by an indoor reception and after-party at Villa Durazzo.
